I woke sad- today is the ninth anniversary of 9/11. After the tragedy I organized a group of psychoanalysts who provided free emergency mental health care. We went directly to homes and offices to help people who were afraid to travel.
I’d like to mark my memories of that day with feelings of peace and gratitude extending outward. Gratitude? For what? Gratitude that we live in an open society. Your Hands are the Witness
Your hands are looking at you, and showing you what you feel. Are the fingers curled up tight? Making clenched fists? Curling gently? Do they shake with nerves or rage? Cup your right hand in your left palm and feel it melt. Then melt you left hand too. Close your eyes and let your hands witness peace.
